A NIGHT TO REMEMBER Classic documentary drama based on Walter Lord's book about the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Told from the perspective of Second Officer Charles Lightoller (Kenneth More), the story follows the supposedly "unsinkable" ship as she embarks on her maiden voyage and ultimately founders in the North Atlantic Ocean.
THE LONG SHIPS Viking brothers Rolfe (Richard Widmark) and Orm (Russ Tamblyn, West Side Story) steal the Norse king's funeral ship as well as his beautiful daughter, Gerda (Beba Loncar), and head off in search of the fabled "Mother of Voices," a huge solid-gold bell "as tall as three tall men." The brothers battle a maelstrom, a mutinous crew and vengeful Moorish troops led by Prince El Mansuh (Sidney Poitier).
DAMN THE DEFIANT! As commander of the British warship H.M.S. Defiant, the humane Crawford (Alec Guinness) strives to maintain order throughout the ship against the ceaseless brutality of sadistic first mate Scott-Padget (Dirk Bogarde). After Crawford is injured in a fiery battle with a French treasure ship, angry seaman Vizard (Anthony Quayle) leads the crew to mutiny when Scott-Padget takes over but when a vengeful sailor murders Scott-Padget, the Defiant crew must decide between saving their country or their own lives.
THE NELSON AFFAIR Young George Matcham visits his uncle Lord Nelson and the vulgar Lady Hamilton. With the clear eyes of youth, he measures Nelson's stature and notes his feet of clay. And yet, Nelson is a hero, a great man. How can this be resolved? Meanwhile, the combined French and Spanish fleet puts out to sea.
